Chelle and the girls in Somerville with Grammie

October 21-the morning of the 24th!

What a great time with Chel and the girls!

They arrived late in the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 21st. 

Chelle homeschooled the girls on Friday while I went to work.

That night we went to the Mexican restaurant in Somerville and to all of our surprise we got to see GranBud there with some of his former school mates.  We all were so happy to see him!  He had come to town to be a part of Homecoming weekend!

Back at home we settled in to watch movies and eat snack foods.

Saturday, we did our traditional activity.....we went to Diane's Donut Shop for breakfast.

Off to Brenham to purchase new pumpkins because the others had become rather mushy!

The pumpkins completed, we went to Diane's Donut Shop again and picked up her best fried chicken strips, mashed potatoes, dirty rice and hot rolls.  We went to the parking lot of my church, First Baptist Church and ate our lunch, waiting for the Homecoming parade to take place.  You can see the pictures below of this event.  It was so great!  The girls gathered all the candy that was thrown in their direction and later separated it all and then bartered with each other for an exchange.  That was fun to listen to.  I have some creative salespeople in the making!

Sunday morning early Chelle and the girls said their "goodbye's" to Sunny and me and off they went to meet with Kris at Lakeside Bible Church in Montgomery, TX.

This is a weekend we will never forget!

FUN!  FUN!  AND MORE FUN WITH THE GRANDDAUGHTERS!

One of the favorite places for Kaitlyn to be is in the K&G Tree!  It is a large tree in front of the house.  Sweet memories she has of climbing with Gavin Suel (Bud's oldest daughter, Jamie's son) and even climbing onto the house roof!

Breanna climbed into the tree also without any fear.

Kaitlyn shows us what holding a knife turns her into!  A little scarey, don't you think?

After carving the girls gathered up all the pumpkin seeds and we roasted them!

They tasted, oh, so good!

Kaitlyn is making her own "Dirt Cup".

These are really yummy and fun to make with the grandchildren.

What is a day without laughter and fun!

Kaitlyn is tickling Sierra!

I loved hearing the laughter all weekend!

I have very joyful granddaughters!

With all the pumpkins in their places on Grammie's front porch, we put battery operated candles inside them and waited for the night to descend.  They were beautiful (both the pumpkins and the girls)!

On Sunday morning we had our own time of worship at my house.

Each girl wrote in a Prayer Journal that Grammie uses to pray for them their own personal, confidential prayer requests.  Each girl went to her own quiet place to write her prayer requests.

After they completed that, they wrote on the front of their journal their favorite Bible verse and then we shared with one another the verse and why it was so important to us.  How insightful!

We then sang a song and had "popcorn"prayers in conclusion.

Quite a meaningful and worshipful time.

Sunny, Grammie's cat, also enjoyed the granddaughters.  He had not ever had so much loving attention in all his life.  The girls showered him with love.  He truly was THE attraction of the weekend.

(A note:  when the girls went back to Montgomery on that Sunday to meet up with their parents, I came back home to a cat who wandered around the house all that evening.  I am sure he was looking for his girls.  On Monday, Sunny was in a funky mood -- reserved and seemed sad!  Perhaps he was a bit exhausted as well.)

Grandparent's Day - 2010

What grandparent doesn't love being with their grandchildren on Grandparent's Day?

What a blessing that I got to do that this year.

With my family living and ministering in Tirana, Albania it is most difficult (impossible) to celebrate all the occasions we want to, like birthdays, anniversaries and other special days.

This year, fond memories were made for "Grammie's Day".

I went to Montgomery, Tx. and attended my "home" church, Lakeside Bible Church, with my family.

This is the "Sending Church" of the Stires to the mission field.

After church we went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch.  Yummy food!  My favorite!

YEAH to Grandparent's Day 2010!

I love my grandchildren so much!

Thanks daughters and sons-in-law for having such sweet, talented and loving children.

Kaitlyn, Whitney, Sierra and Breanna came to spend a weekend with me in Somerville, TX!

What fun we had!

The weekend included:  Swimming in the beautiful pool so graciously offered to us by my neighbor's, Kenny & Missey Tharp; dressing up in Grammie's jammies; eating loads of snacks while we watched movies; staying up until 12 midnight on Friday night and until 10:30 PM on Saturday night; attending the Washington County Fair on Saturday and riding rides and eating cotton candy; lots of play time with Sunny, Grammie's cat, loads of hugs and loves!

What more could a Grammie want!

Absolutely nothing!

I was in an INCREDIBLE MOMENT!

Special weekend!

On Friday, October 1, 2010, Chelle (my oldest daughter) came for a special weekend with me in Somerville, Texas.

Mom's Red Beans & Rice with Slovacek hot sausage and biscuits (per Chelle's request) was a great beginning to our weekend together.

Can you just imagine......

A full weekend with my daughter!!!!!!!!!

What a delight for me!

Lounging in our comfy clothes, wrapped in Grandma's afghan and hanging out was the scene the first night.

FUN!

Saturday morning we enjoyed Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spice coffee on the front porch.

It was the most beautiful morning!

A perfect autumn morning....a cool breeze, the warmth of the sun and each other!  PERFECT!

Lunch was a spinach, warm grilled salmon, toasted pine nuts, mandarin oranges and Paula Deen's Peach salad dressing!  Most filling and delicious!

Dinner that evening was Chelle's favorite soup.

Le Madeline's Tomato Basil Soup found at my favorite market...H.E.B. in College Station!  We both were very happy to nibble on Artichoke and Spinach chips with dips.

I really had to discipline myself and NOT bake one thing for this weekend.

We had so much food and fun that there was no other room for sweets!

On Sunday morning we packed up the car and went to church at Lakeside Bible Church in Montgomery, TX.

What a memorable weekend for me!

I surely do love my daughter!
